Join us to make jewelry out of button covers in the ancient art of Japanese marbling, or "floating ink." Students will make a single pair of earrings and a necklace. Suminagashi is the ancient art of Japanese marbling, or "floating ink," traditionally done on a paper surface. In this class, we will be doing it on a small piece of metal.
All materials are reclaimed and from the Creative Reuse Center, so everyone’s final product will look slightly different from our photo. This workshop will be taught by Linda, an artist and teacher who has always been captivated by the idea of tracing a material, particularly fiber, all the way back to its source. Currently, she operates Bergstrom Farm, where all of their products are cruelty-free, sustainable, and made with love.
*All deposits and balances for on-site workshops are non-refundable and non-transferable, even if you miss the class. Clever Octopus will consider your missed class fee as a donation towards outreach programming. If a class is cancelled, however, students may choose to receive a full refund or may transfer – with no fee – to another class or workshop.
