PUSHOUT: Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools

PUSHOUT: Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools

The Sojourner Group in partnership with the Salt Lake County Mayors Office of Diversity Affairs is hosting a screening and panel discussion — PUSHOUT: Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools. A film by Monique W. Morris, Ed.D. and Women in the Room Productions that encourages a robust conversation about how to reduce the criminalization of Black girls in our nations’ learning environments.

The organizers have informed us that this is a sensitive screening and open to all age groups, as Black girls as young as 5, 7, and 8 year old are being taken out of schools in handcuffs.
