Festival Associate Manager, Accessibility

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Festival Associate Manager, Accessibility is charged with managing key accessibility elements of the 2025 Sundance Film Festival (SFF25) including overseeing all aspects of the Festival accommodation process, creating resources and training around accessibility, and supporting the Community & Belonging team in ensuring that the Festival is equitable for all.

 

Working closely under the direction of the Accessibility Manager, the Festival Associate Manager, Accessibility supports Sundance Institute’s commitment to providing an inclusive Festival experience for artists, audiences, partners, employees, and volunteers from all communities.

 

This temporary position works full time from Monday, November 18, 2024 through Tuesday, February 4, 2025 and will be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends to meet key deadlines and respond to on-call needs. This position must be based within a commutable distance to our Park City, UT office in order to work on-site in a hybrid capacity throughout its employment.

 

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Managing the creation and operational implementation of all accommodations for artists, invited guests, patrons, employees, and volunteers throughout the Festival as well as other Institute programming as needed.

  • Fielding requests, inquiries, concerns, or feedback related to Festival accessibility through the accessibility hotline and email account and respond in a timely manner.

  • Coaching staff, volunteers, service providers, and Festival Partners on the standards, expectations, and best practices of the Institute.

  • Supporting with training, guiding, and supporting accessibility-department volunteers, drivers and customer support, in understanding, scheduling, and implementing their roles.

  • Creating and implementing culturally-appropriate resources and training materials for employees, volunteers, and Festival partners.

  • Building structure and scope around all communication services including managing relationships with American Sign Language (ASL) & Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) Vendors, including rate negotiation.

  • Supporting the management of the operational budget including balancing expenses and processing invoices.

  • Co-leading Artist teams in their communication and coordination with any artists that have accessibility requests or inquiries as it relates to communication access.

  • Assisting at any in-person screening or event where accessible accommodation implementation support is needed.

  • De-escalating interpersonal conflicts or addressing unexpected accommodation breakdowns related to accessibility at official Festival venues in real time.

  • Working with Manager, Accessibility on various accessibility projects, as directed.

  • Creating and updating department-specific operating procedures.

  • Completing a comprehensive wrap report that provides a clear overview of areas for improvement and practices that worked well.

 

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • 3 years of experience in diversity, equity, impact, accessibility, and belonging or transferable.

  • Understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and event accessibility.

  • Communication skills required to work effectively with a variety of people and communication styles.

  • Experience working with people with disabilities, coordinating American Sign Language/ Communication Access Realtime Translation vendors, and implementing environmental accommodations is preferred.
